Parking Lot Sweeping

Whether you own your sweeping business, maintain property for a real estate developer or manage large facilities for a sports complex or university, you know that parking lots and areas are a big part of your job. Besides tending to landscaping, changing lighting, restriping, power washing sidewalks, emptying trash containers and even hanging seasonal decorations, you have a responsibility to keep your parking lot clean and looking great. No matter what, there will always be trash that ends up in a parking area as well as leaves, sand, dirt, gravel and rocks depending on the landscape around the parking area as well as the conditions of the local terrain. Whatever the debris or however big the parking area, TYMCO builds a sweeper to keep your property looking its best.

Stormwater

A Stormwater Runoff Best Management Practice (BMP)

Most newly constructed parking lots and areas are required to implement a number of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for stormwater management. There are several different BMPs that can be implemented such as adding additional landscaping, installing storm drain catch basins and sweeping paved surfaces on a frequent basis. Sweeping parking lots on a regular basis obviously keeps the larger debris from going down storm drains, but sweeping with a TYMCO Regenerative Air Sweeper will also remove all of the fine dust particulates out of the cracks and crevices.

More often than not, fine dust particulates can be more damaging to stormwater runoff than larger debris. This dust can contain several different contaminants and toxins like vehicle lubricants, coolants and brake dust, petroleum products used in pavements as well as other contaminants that fall on the parking area surface. Whenever there is a rain event, anything left on the paved surface will be picked up by the stormwater runoff and flow untreated into local waterways.

Noise Pollution

Noise Pollution and Environmental Noise

There are a lot of parking areas that need to be swept and more times than not, it is a parking lot next to an apartment complex or a parking garage in between a school and condominiums. Some of these parking areas are located in densely populated parts of town that have neighbors that would prefer to keep as much excessive environmental noise to a minimum among the typical hustle and bustle of the city. Sweeping parking lots and garages located near areas with noise pollution restrictions are not a problem when your TYMCO Model 210® or Model 435® is equipped with Sound Reduction Engineering (SRE®).

SRE allows our Model 210 and Model 435 Regenerative Air Sweepers to work in areas where only truck chassis engine noise levels are desirable. These extraordinary sound reductions are accomplished through a radically redesigned blower never before used on TYMCO Regenerative Air Sweepers. SRE isolates various noise sources on the sweeper and addresses those areas though elimination or redesign.

It is important to understand that noise is continually changing as a result of varying sweeper blower and auxiliary engine speeds as well as truck chassis speed. TYMCO feels the operator must understand this in order to better evaluate sweeper noise as it relates to sweeper work performance.

Model 210 Parking Lot Sweeper

The SRE equipped Model 210 or Model 435 under normal sweeping conditions has a noise level of approximately 70 dB(A), effectively allowing you to hear primarily the truck chassis engine.

With the introduction of the Model 210h®, it is important to point out how the TYMCO hDrive Power System has presented Model 210h owners a solution to noise pollution restrictions by offering inherent sound reductions as compared to the Model 210. Using a hydrostatic system to power the Model 210h, owners will realize a drastic reduction in ambient noise when sweeping at the 210h’s normal operating speed.
