WACO, Texas—April 12, 2013—TYMCO® today introduced the new Model 210h® mounted on a Ford Super Duty F-450 or Ford F-350. The Model 210h is a Model 210® Parking Lot Sweeper powered by the TYMCO hDrive® Power System. hDrive is an optimized hydraulic power system that gives Model 210h owners all the simplicity and low maintenance of sweeping without an auxiliary engine. Ford Super Duty trucks offer many features that allowed the Engineering Team at TYMCO to provide sweeper performance enhancements and an improved operator experience.

B.W., Raymond (first president and founder of ISSA), and F.M. Young learned that if the base of asphalt roads were solidly built, then the surface could be repaired inexpensively without having to repave. The team came up with a truck mounted process of resealing asphalt roads with a layer of emulsified asphalt and sand called “Slurry Seal”. The key for the emulsion to stick was that the road needed to be cleaned. If the emulsion was not able fill the cracks, the weather would cause those cracks to reappear. The mechanical brooms available at the time would only clean off the top surface, but not get in the cracks.

“Time is critical on a race track, which is why the quality of the machine is important and why we went with the Tymco for COTA,” says Bromley. “We will start with the morning sweep and try not to sweep once the race gets started. Rubbering the track is important and the more you sweep, the more it changes the way the car is on the track. Once a driver gets used to the track, you don’t want to mess with it too much. That is why it’s important to get that initial cleaning right the first time.”

When Collins started looking at sweepers, he chose the Tymco Comdex 600 and has been very happy with them. Now he has three, two of which were used to sweep the track at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX for the Formula 1 race. Collins’ drivers used the nylon brooms typical for airports and race tracks to sweep in a tandem pattern around the track. The regenerative air sweepers also got an American-themed wrap for the event.

Dodson is a great example of someone who looks for solutions. Many times lowering your costs means finding greater efficiencies which can also be environmentally friendly. “We are an environmental company no matter how you look at it,” says Dodson. “If you look at what we are picking up with our sweeper, a huge percentage (especially with air sweepers) is the fine material that the EPA is looking at getting out of the wastewater stream that goes through catch basins and storm drains. And, of course, how we deal with the material once we have it is environmentally friendly.”

But the Bill’s Sweeping relationship with TYMCO is more than a company partnership. There are families behind those companies. The Bill’s Sweeping brothers and current owners, Mark and Mike Carter, are the second generation to step into the family sweeping business after their father Robert Carter purchased the operation in 1962. They both “cut their teeth” driving 600’s and have attended TYMCO School, a hands on training course to learn about all about the equipment.

Willard Brent, owner of Commercial Property Maintenance located in Albuquerque, NM, built his business on "Quality through dependability, pride and communication." Every 16 to 18 months, CPM purchases a new Tymco Model 210 selling the oldest piece of equipment keeping the fleet rejuvenated.

Len Finchum, street commissioner for Noblesville, IN, purchased a five-unit fleet of Tymco Model 600s in autumn 2006. “These are the first Tymcos we’ve had. When we needed to replace our street sweepers, we tested models from a number of companies. As we do leaf pickup for our residents, we tested each sweeper for its ability to pick up small to medium piles of leaves. The Tymco 600 did the best job, hands down.”

Regenerative air sweepers are suitable for almost all everyday road sweeping needs. In addition, they are cheaper to maintain, and because of their cost effectiveness and versatility, they are the sweeper truck-type of choice for many municipalities and government agencies. That is not to discount or disregard vacuum sweepers. They are a great sweeper truck option for applications such as street sweeping, but for construction and airport runway applications, as well. Whether purchasing a regenerative air sweeper or vacuum sweeper it is important to assess the type of applications it will be used on and ensure you make the right purchase to get the job done.

Yaqoob Mohammed Ali Turki, head of transport section, municipality and planning department, told Clean Middle East: “We chose TYMCO over the other brands because both the product (quality) and price (cost-effective) suited our requirements. We often got complaints that the road sweepers blew a lot of dust while cleaning the roads; secondly, they just helped to collect the dust on the sides of the roads. These new sweepers are much more effective and can clean roads much more efficiently. In the near future we plan to increase the fleet and replace the older machines.”

The City of Sealy wants its streets to sparkle, and on Wednesday, approved its city manager to move forward with plans for a street sweeper lease-purchase agreement. The agreement with TYMCO to lease the regenerative air sweeper would span six years. The city would own the equipment at the end of its lease.
